It is believed that fast food originated during the ancient Roman times where cooked meals were available instantly during games and festivals. Fast food gained prominence after Merriam-Webster dictionary recognized it in the year 1951. In some countries like India, the fast food industry is exploding and growing at the rate of 41 percent each year.
Fast food is one that is available readily and served to the customers through a fast service. The culture started essentially as an urban phenomenon to meet the needs of busy people. The concept of fast food is very old, but it became modernized and professional after the end of the Second World War.

It sells food items ranging from hamburgers, milk, coffee, soft drinks, French fries and milkshakes. It has 31,000 outlets globally in 126 countries and the business revenue is 13 billion per year.
All may not like fast foods, not all foods are good for you. Junk foods contain high fat in them and cause obesity.
