You do not want the pit to take up too much space otherwise there will not be any space left to relax and enjoy the great outdoor space. Think about this in a practical manner as once you have built the pit it would be a shame to have to remove it again because it does not work in a practical manner.

The shape that you want to get will really depend on the individual preference and what will work best for you. You will have to dig at least eight inches into the ground and approximately fifty inches round the perimeter. Clear the space and measure and then level the surface off.
Once the area is prepared you will need to put the gravel in the area so that it is about two inches thick and then put a layer of mortar on top about two inches in from the sides all the way around. Using the trowel put a combination of water and mortar into the pit area.
Then smooth the area over whilst the mortar is still wet. Continue to this process till the pit has reached the height that you require at for using. Once you have built your pit and got everything set up you can then relax and make the most of your creation.
