Celiac Bagels Are Easy To Prepare

By Patricia Hamilton

People who do not tolerate certain types of food or some of the ingredients often used in different products sometimes find it difficult to find a replacement for their favorite kind of food. It should also be mentioned that such foods are expensive, and sometimes not overly delicious. The best solution is to prepare your favorite treats in your own kitchen.

Gluten intolerance is probably one of those things that can sometimes get easier if you bake yourself. For example, you can make your own bread, or maybe these delicious little celiac bagels. This way you can enjoy baking and have freshly made specialties whenever you like. This particular recipe is extremely simple and easy to make.

You will find many types of gluten-free flour. Choose better flour, or combine several types. It is a good idea to add a small amount of gluten-free starch to the flour mixture, as this ingredient will make the dough more delicious. In addition to flour, you need a small amount of milk, hot water, oil, dry yeast, sugar and salt. The addition of a small teaspoon of baking powder will speed up the process of raising the dough.

To begin with, prepare this simple recipe. Mix three cups of gluten-free flour, 2 teaspoons of dry yeast, and half a teaspoon of baking powder. Add a little sugar, salt, two tablespoons of oil, lukewarm milk and lukewarm water, and make soft dough. Cover with a cloth and allow it to rise for about half an hour.

Make larger or smaller circles of dough, cut a hole in each and place these dough rings on oiled baking paper to rise again. Boil salted water and cook each ring for maybe twenty seconds. Place your rings back on oiled baking paper and preheat the oven. It takes for about twenty minutes to bake your bagels, bu it sometimes depends on their size.

When it comes to your basic mixture, you can really add whatever you want in it. Sesame seeds, nuts, grains, chopped dry fruits, poppy seeds, whatever you feel like adding. For sweets, simply add more sugar. In fact, you can add just about anything in, including eggs, vanilla, cinnamon or ginger. Salty versions are just great with pumpkin seeds, different spices or herbs.

If you want to increase the protein content in your desserts, add one to two teaspoons of chia seeds. Soak the seeds of the seeds in lukewarm water first and then use this mixture to make the dough. You can scrub this liquid if you do not want tiny dark crumbs in your dough. Chia really replaces the egg in a variety of recipes, and is a good source of protein that is essential to your body.

Well, for those who enjoy making lovely sandwiches using tasty bagels, there is no reason you should not make your dough richer and tastier. So, you could add grated cheese in your dough mixture, with some olive oil. Or you could add chili peppers, chopped herbs, dried tomatoes or different interesting spices, combined with pumpkin seeds or whatever you want. Enjoy preparing and consuming these treats.
