By Stephanie Gray

This kind of certification on foods is done for the Muslim community. This is because these people should eat only the foods that contain the acceptable ingredients. To ensure that the foods that are consumed do not contain ingredients that are haram, this certification is done. This has however raised eyebrows in some countries. There are some activists that are telling their consumers to boycott all lawfully approved products. Still and all, this practice is very important in the Muslim community. Find out more about Halal certified meals below.

The Muslims consider taking the certified meals because they are certain that they do not contain any unclean ingredients and are suitable for eating. This is a rule that originates from the Sharia system in the Quran. It prohibits the Muslims from eating or using anything that is unclean. These rules have been there from generation to generation and are still applied today. For this reason, the food products should also be certified.

This is however still a topic of debate because some of the practices are creating issues among the people. For instance, the Muslim themselves have a disagreement about stunning meat. Some are asking whether slaughtering the animals after stunning them produces meat that is lawful to eat. This is the same thing that is happening with the certification of the foods because some people are not agreeing to this system.

These foods can be inspected in three main ways. The first form of certification involves the individual products. When the individual products have been approved, it means that the production process as well as the ingredients in that product is considered lawful. Therefore, consumers can buy approved yogurt from stores that sold yogurt that has not been approved.

The second certification procedure is approving the facilities that will be used to produce the food. Therefore, any food that will be produced suing that facility becomes automatically clean. Hence, the certifiers that perform this operation can decide to certify the production process. This is preferred by most people because many items can be approved at once. Thirdly, the entire retail premise can be approved. This makes all items that are sold there become clean automatically as well.

Certification of the foods is critical because the Muslim consumers can decide what to buy. Most food items are now being processed. Without proper labeling, the consumers may never be able to tell the difference between approved and unapproved foods. The certification process is therefore critical.

Another reason for this certification is involved with trade. Since the trade of food is growing, it can become very profitable to trade lawful or approved food. The Muslims have provided a very lucrative opportunity for the companies that are making approved foods. This can brig very good returns.

These meals can either be certified domestically by local certifiers or can be approved overseas. However, most certifiers are found in Australia. In fact, the Agricultural department has liaised with some Islamic organizations. These are testing and certifying the food before it becomes consumes and imported to other countries all over the globe.
